As a new knitter, it takes me forever to knit anything remotely recognizable. I’ve been working on these baby booties for a week now. After several failed attempts, it looked like I might just finish one booty successfully last night. I got to the very end, tied a knot and cut the yarn. That’s where it all went downhill. The knot must not have been tight enough or something because the whole thing started to unravel. ARG! I was so annoyed at myself! No knitting for me today….I’m still brooding.

i’m in! March 19, 2008
A few weeks ago, I signed up for ravelry.com. I heard a lot about the site at work and figured I’d give it a whirl. The site requires you to sign up to receive an invitation (which they approve) before you can become a member, create a profile etc. When I signed up two weeks ago, there were 5,000 people ahead of me waiting to get in!! Of course that made me even more eager to check this site out. To my surprise, I had an invitation waiting in my email box yesterday letting me know that I was “officially” invited to the ravelry.com sewing party. I have to admit that the site was worth waiting for. There’s tons of good inspiration and links to great patterns. I’m even more inspired to knit. Now I just need to learn how to read a freakin’ pattern (why are they so confusing)!

After lots of shopping and assembing the craft room is finally in working order. Let the crafting begin!

i can knit! March 14, 2008
I’ve been inspired over the past to year to expand my crafty skills. This spring, I signed up for a knitting class through the continuing education program in our town. The class is eight weeks long and after only two classes I have completed my first project! The baby booites you see below were pretty easy to make and now I have the confidence to try another project (perhaps something a bit larger!)
What should I try next? Any ideas???

oh, deer! March 11, 2008
I hate deer! Here’s a few reasons why:
-
they always seem to cross the road at the WRONG time
-
they eat everything in the garden
-
they are just plain gross
Now that I live in deer country I unfortunately have to co-exist with these creatures. As I pull in the driveway tonight I’m greeted by a pack of deer grazing in my backyard. RIDICULOUS!
OH MY DEER!
it’s all about the craft room March 10, 2008
For years, I’ve lived in 500 – 800 square feet of space. When Guy and I lived in our aptartment it was a struggle to walk around our over-furnished living room. We barely recognized our kitchen table when we finally set it up in the new house. One of the benefits of moving to the burbs has been our very spacious 4 bedroom house. Since the day we’ve moved in, I’ve been planning on setting up my craft room. A place to sew, bead, knit and be crafty. In honor of National Craft Month, I’m dedicating this month to setting up my space.

Welcome! March 10, 2008
Growing up, I was voted most likely to drive a volvo and carpool my kids from soccer practice to hebrew school. It seemed after graduating college that perhaps my life had taken a different path. I took a job with a huge company and was being fast tracked up the corporate ladder with 4 moves and 5 jobs in just 2 years. However, my life has recently gotten back on track. I now work for a fun publishing company, got married to wonderful man (we’ll call him “Guy”) and bought a house in Connecticut! No kiddies to carpool just yet…so I am enjoying spending time decorating my house and being crafty. This blog is a diary of my adventures! Enjoy.
